*K CHRONICLES MIDWEST TOUR: FROM THE ROAD!!
CHICAGO, TUES. THE 18TH- Yoowww!! What the HELL am i doing?!! I think I overbooked this thing…ever since we landed in Chicago, yesterday, it’s been non-stop. First we hit Columbia College for a roundtable seminar on the new “Beginner’s Guide to Community-Based Arts”. Then it was off to the Acme Building for a featured reading at the YCA Open Mic. It was there that I met up with my evil twin sister’s Brother-in-Law, Damien. We then i raced to a Booksluts event at Hopleaf where fellow ess-eff supa-star Beth Lisick was performing…but i got there too late..
But there i met the infamous Chicago raconteur Greg Gilliam, who wrote the most fabulous zine “Yespants”, which we made into a Marginal Prophets song on our latest cd “Bohemian Rap CD”. We had a beer and then Damien and I hit a hot dog joint out near Wrigley Field, ending the night on a sloppy note.
Thanks to everyone who came out for the Chicago event. And apologies to anyone who asked the guy at the desk if i was appearing, and the guy said, “I don’t know. I’m just here with my friend who’s spinning records.”
ANN ARBOR, WEDS. THE 19TH- OOoo la-la..Now this is the life..The Ann Arbor library and 826 Michigan pulled out the stops and put on a really great show. They had these really nice posters prominently displayed, and Erin, Amy and John from 826 brought apples, cider and candy to give out.
If you don’t know what 826 is..They’re this great organization that tutors kids in writing stories, screenplays and more. It originally started in Ess-Eff, but has now spread across the country. I’m on the Board, so it was my duty to check of the space of the newly formed 826Michigan.
The space is HUGE!! waaay bigger than the Ess-EFF space…so they’re gonna be well prepared when they take off and all the kids in the area start coming there for stuff. good luck to them..they’re good people.
Anyway..the show went really well..and mailing list guy Ian Nagy brought a tasty-assed pastrami sandwich from the place he works at: Zingerman’s. It was the cat’s ass…
Okay..Must pass out..Two shows in Detroit, tomorrow…
