Nonono – please, leave superstition (and all religions are just that) out of this election: It’s not the work of Satan! It’s the work of men! Or is Satan a US-Citizen and has the right to vote? You had it in your own hands. We were only supposed to watch the drama here in Europe. And, like the Brexit, we just have to cope with it and realize that there are more morons in the world than we ever expected.
Come on, NN2, it’s a joke! I know it’s hard to find humor in the Trump situation, but we have to keep going or we might as well just lie down and let it roll over us. We could be entering into a new period of great political satire and art. The people of the world need to wake up. We must oppose this worldwide Neo-Fascism with everything we’ve got. To the barricades, Keith!
Neo-Fascism? He got elected in a very archaic, but democratic way. Mayority of the US-Citizens voted for him (yes, I know: Winner-takes-it-all-elections, like in the US and UK are not really democratic (like in Germany where EVERY vote counts)). But Obama, Bush jr. + sen. and Clinton (Mr) were elected president the same way.
So: Trump is THEIR president!
We are the only ones who can really shout: “He is not our president(because my president is Mr. Joachim Gauck)!”.
Actually he did not get the popular vote, Hillary won the popular vote by I believe around 200,000. But in our system it is not based on the popular vote but the electoral college which he did get the 270 votes to win. Wikipedia it if you would like more information about.
Thanks, Keith. Fight the good fight! We need to keep our sense of humor and encourage satire, just as we must hold onto our rational judgement. Remember that Mussolini and Hitler were both elected, using the democratic systems in place. Yes, it can happen here, and it has! His next move will be to remove his political opponents, either by neglect or imprisonment, all the while scapegoating the outsiders of society (Jews and Communists in Hitler’s case, Mexicans and Muslims in Trump’s). He’s already marginalizing the media, now that they finally realize that they were seduced, too. (Whew!)
You’re right! Look at Turkey (the country, not the bird). “President” Erdogan does exactly these things today in modern Turkey. He says, that he wants to fight terrorism, but all he does is to remove all peolple who are against him or have a different opinion. After the Coup d’État against him, earlier this year, he deported politicians, newspeople, students, soldiers and many more (over 10,000). What happened to them? Does anybody know? Does anybody care?
Last week he sent the executives of the newspaper “Cumhuriyet” to jail, because he thinks, they are, or they supported terrorists. Asked, if he thinks this is a democratic way he answered, that people can think of him what they want. If they think he is a dictator, then he doesn’t care.
What does the rest of the world do against him? Nothing! Mark my words. This can happen everywhere, everytime.
When I told my grandmother (who was a young woman in Germany back in 1933), that Hitler and all his cruelties cannot happen today, she answered: “That was exactly what we thought back then!” It made me think…
I’m finding solace and amusement by checking out Elaine Stritch on You Tube, singing “I’m Still Here”, at Sondheim’s 80th. We will survive. Just like the roaches. And Keith Richards. But is mere survival enough?
Thanks Keith. This is exactly what I thought when the Cubs won. When the world turns upside down and the normal order of things is disturbed – e.g., the Cubs win – there’s no telling what weird sh*t will happen…
God making a deal with the Devil is like Bernie Sanders working for Trump! No, I think Trump made the deal, and the Devil threw in the Cubs’ win just to ‘stir things up a bit more’. Trump only cares about himself. He doesn’t care about baseball any more than the Devil does.

And for the record, this is one of first things that has made me laugh since the election. I thank you!!!!

…But who made the deal? Was it Trump, or the Cubs?
Truth Hurts: God and the Devil, natch: “You get your win, and I get mine”….
