Can it be because sports events aren’t censored like news? I’ve read some stories of the carnage of 9/11 that they wouldn’t dare show! The only time we see a bomb go off in the Middle East is from the point of view of one of our planes that’s so high up it might as well be a cartoon! You think any government would get popular backing for its murders if they showed us the unwashed truth?
When I was a reporter I learned about the knife’s edge between knowing what happened, and what you could tell the public without them being utterly horrified. It’s strange, I know. You want people to know what happened, so they know how bad it is, but there’s a zone beyond which the public doesn’t want to go.
Maybe if national leaders knew more about the smell of blood, or the sight of a bloated corpse, or the sight of a guy with his face shot off, they would hesitate before sending someone else’s kid into the meatgrinder.
I’m still wondering if having a combat vet as Secretary of War will make any difference. The shots are still called by the contractors and the banksters. “What’s good for General Bullmoose is good for America!”
I was in NYC right after 9/11 and The Daily News had some graphic photos of human remains in their newspaper.
Also, flickr once had someone post photos of literally chunks of human bodies on the streets of New York below the burning towers. The man who took them said he lived nearby and went out to take pictures of the immediate aftermath. The photos were in full color and were later removed from that website.
Come to think of it, Moose, back in the 1930s the New York Daily News printed a Page 1 covertly-shot photo of Ruth Snyder in the electric chair at Sing Sing. Everybody was horrified…..so horrified, they ran out and bought up the netire press run of the paper. As Mark Twain said, there is no accounting for people.
