I didn’t know they had black Friday in Germany {i see you back there with your hands up}…
‘All we have to fear is fear itself’ is truer today more than ever {well, fear & the power it holds over the weak-minded…mostly the melanin-deficient weak-minded types}.
I notice that they’ve overcome their fear to shop for bargains! They’re trying to create a Black Friday mentality in London, too. And people in England don’t have Thanksgiving.
OK, I’m slow this morning (again) so at first I didn’t notice it was a reference to the widespread protests against police brutality. I first thought it was just a reference to seeing more black folks out shopping, and I was thinking “Well, duh, more black folks are middle class….oh – never mind.” People like me make me glad I’m not a cartoonist.
Protesting at shopping extravaganzas gets a high profile, but I also worry that it creates backlash among people who think “Aww, they’re just a buncha…” On the other hand, maybe nothing would reach those people.
I think you’re right, Tom. People who say “…just a buncha…”, use that response no matter what the occasion. The backlash is always present, no matter what form of protest is used and when. The object of the game is the protection of private property, not protection of individuals. If the people in power can keep a lid on the damage and protect the status quo, they’re happy. It doesn’t matter to them if a few people are sacrificed to that end. In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if the whole point of killing is to instill fear into the protestors. It’s policy. That’s why the police are never convicted.
