I remember a badge during the Vietnam War: “War is good business. Invest your son.” World War 2 got us all out of the Great Depression. I guess Obama thinks Syria will do the same for us. Or, rather, the Corporate people behind Obama. What a disappointment that man’s become. When Obama was elected the first time, the rest of the world thought that he would be our only hope from the relentless downward slide. A kind of International Nelson Mandela.
UGH, disgusting – I saw so many of those “specials”. We will bear witness to the full exploitation of a holiday honoring Americans as it goes from observance to another reason for a f’ing mattress sale – was this what it was like after Labor Day & Memorial Day had been around 10 or so years? Something to which every generation gets to (read: has to) be subjected? Pointed statement, Keith, and too true to do anything but laugh away the pain

I keep meaning to go back to the microfilm files at the librtary and see if, 13 years after the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, people were still making Dec. 7th a day of mourning and nationalistic correctness. My dad, who was drafted in World War II, used to refer to Pearl Harbor Day as “Oh yeah, the day we got caught with our pants down.” Which neatly sums it up.
Too late. Nice fantasy. The Fat Cats are still laughing at Americans for falling for the 9/11 scam on America. I’m sure Cheney/Bush still clink the champagne glasses every year on that one.
Wow, *ouch*
That might raise some junk bond prices tho.

In WWII they were called War Profiteers and some of them went to prison for it. (Like making HumVees without side armor.)
