A pleasure to hang out with them two out of the last three weekends (we were with ’em in Vegas over the Thanksgiving Holla-day)..We ate like pigs and hit the Cartoon Art Museum and the new Museum of the African Diaspora. The new MOAD has a lotta potential, but need to have more stuff in there ( like Black cartoonists!!)..

*HEY..THAT STRIP LOOKS FAMILIAR PART 65…
This Sunday’s Doonesbury (12/11/05) reminds me of a K Chronicles strip I did years ago about the use of the “9/11 card” (pg. 37 in “the Passion of the Keef”), from the maker of the “Race card”. Don’t leave home with out it!!

*EMAIL OF THE WEEK..

concerning the Star Wars/Papa strip..

Keith,

Thanks for the Star Wars comic this week. It really made me laugh. My dad and I went to see all of them together, since I was 5 years old and the first one came out. And through the years, he has bought me all sorts of memorabilia and toys (even though I’m an adult).

Well, he died last week the day before Thanksgiving, and we never got to see the final Star Wars together. I live in Boston and he was in Texas, and it just never happened. He’ll never know how Anakin became Darth Vader.

I know I’ve said this before, but thanks for the great comics. They always hit home.

A.

*HOPE TO SEE SOME OF YOU AT SONOMA STATE TONITE AND MILL VALLEY LIBRARY NEXT WEEK…

*GEEZ, LOUISE…
I did this big, long post earlier this week, and it didn’t load!! It was a spectacular missive that not only hyped up
the 2006 Life’s Little Victories Calendars that I have for sale, and the professional cartooning class that I’m teaching this saturday at the Cartoon Art Museum, but also outlined a competent and detailed exit strategy for our troops in Iraq.

Ahh, but i digress…

I’m super excited about the opening of the MOAD in San Francisco this Saturday. The Museum of the African Diaspora is right down the street from the Cartoon Art Museum, so I’m gonna slip in there before my class.

Also this week is the ten year anniversary of the online mag Salon.com!! Salon was started ten years ago by my editor at the San Francisco Examiner, David Talbot. I remember him asking me if I’d like to submit to this new online publication he was starting up…

The dotcom boom…those were the days!! Salon paid big bucks back then to run “the K Chronicles”. I remember going to one of their holiday parties at the height of it all, and there was this amazing spread that included all-u-can-eat sushi and tons of other stuff. I just remember saying to myself: “You always wondered how much unagi you could eat, so let’s see..”

I also remember drunkenly chatting with the former president of CBS television. Ha!! It was good stuff.

Then it all came crashing down. The web parties. The big money. The dotcom boom.

But that’s what’s so cool about Salon. They’re still here. For years everyone’s been telling me how Salon is on its deathbed and that I should cash my checks as soon as possible. Guess what? Still rolling on..Long after Webvan Long after pets.com.

Congrats.

Okay..It’s time for the Creator’s Meeting at the C.A.M. ..

Cheers,

Keef

*BACK FROM VEGAS..
Had a great time. Hung out with family and met up with Vegas buds Vezun and Iceberg Slick. Won a little bit o’ money at the blackjack tables, ate too much and kicked HUGE bottom in the arcade at the Fiesta Casino.

I had the greatest pinball experience ever. Get this: I played two games on a Terminator Three pinball machine. I scored enough points to win replays on both games..one score was so high that it gave me another replay after I put in my initials..THEN it awarded me two more replays after I matched both games ending in “00”.

So, in conclusion: FIVE free games. I gathered the children that were present in the arcade and told them to share the games. I then walked out of the arcade to the cheers of the youth.

*THIS SATURDAY: CARTOONING 12.0 AT THE CARTOON ART MUSEUM..

I am currently preparing for the cartooning class that i’ll be teaching this weekend at the Cartoon Art Museum.

The class is gonna be divided into two parts: the first half will be techniques and art stuff. And after a break, we’ll tackle the business side of things.

space is limited, so if you haven’t signed up, get off yer ass!! for more info, check out http://www.cartoonart.org

*IT’S FINALLY HAPPENED…
It’s finally gotten to the point where I cannot answer all the email messages that come in. I’m sorry about that. I’m not being a snob…Things have gotten so busy that I just can’t stay on top of it anymore.. But i read all of ’em…

*KEEP ON ORDERING THEM 2006 LIFE’S LITTLE VICTORIES CALENDARS!!

Cheers!!
