Speechless….America just lost one of the biggest…

As some of you may or may not know, I was a Michael Jackson impersonator in high school in 1984. I credit Mr. Jackson for any performance I’ve ever done in front of a group of more than 3 people. Be it the Mikey J performances, leading two bands: Butt’er Crunch and the Marginal Prophets. Or the slideshow performances I do. It was all because I used to watch this shy skinny black kid turn into a monster performer on stage.

No one was better. Nobody.

And you know what? I am psyched that I live in Los Angeles, because I can talk to so many people who have worked with him and for him..I’m getting some great personal perspectives. Also, the nonstop coverage on local T.V. makes me feel like I’m not missing anything not having cable.

I’m gonna spend the rest of the night You-tubing Mikey J and Jackson 5 live performances. It’s gonna be a long night.

*THE GERMAN IN-LAWS ARE IN TOWN…
..so expect some comics with them soon. The best thing about people visiting is it’s the only time we really clean the apartment up. This place is *SPARKLING* right now!!

*EMAIL OF THE WEEK…
Dear Keith,

I learn more from you than I do from any other cartoonist – for that matter,
from most any other source on the web! Just wanted to say thank you!

Best regards,

C.

..a.k.a. Phillip Paley. He is the cousin of super amazing animator/cartoonist Nina Paley, who I used to hang with during my formative years in San Francisco. He came into my youth hostel for some reason and demonstrated his championship martial arts ability.

I was a big fan of the original Land of the Lost. Sid and Marty Krofft shows always scared the hell outta me, but LOTL was a bit less trippy. And it had dinosaurs every week. Perfect for a little geek like myself.

Despite the bad acting and cheezy effects, I dug LOTL for the pylon/crystal/Sleestak stuff. It always seemed very Star Trek to me.

A few days a go I was trolling online and found a Sid and Marty Krofft interview, and they said they got all these Star Trek writers to write for the show!! Finally, it all made sense!!

I’m kinda happy this big movie version is tanking. Like Starsky and Hutch, they tried to make a big, dumb, joke of a movie out of it. If they did a straight remake with good dino effects, and no-name actors playing a real family, they would’ve made their $$$ back in a week.

Would you be interested in attending a convention full of comic strip cartoonists? I’d like to know.
This blog is supposed to allow comments but it obviously isn’t, so I’m taking comments over at the Knight Life Comic site.

Also..additional ideas would be neat to hear.

*AUGH..IT’S BEEN A ROUGH WEEK..
The doctor murdered at church..the undercover cop killed in NYC by a fellow offier..The flight outta Brazil that disappeared. THANK THE MAKER for Sasha Baron Cohen’s Bruno stunt with Eminem at the MTV Music Awards (yeah, I know it was staged..Em’s bodyguards would’ve killed Baron Cohen).

IN MY MIX:
*A player who pitches left-handed and right-handed(?!!)
*Manchester United and Bayern Munich losses
*Why don’t we hand GM over to the Detroit Red Wings organization?
