*HEE HEE HEE…FOLKS ARE REALLY DIGGIN’ THE NEW BOOK…

this dude couldn’t wait to receive his..he passed the time reading the last one:

EMAIL OF THE WEEK:
Hey Keef,

Your patriotism continues to inspire me! Great new book, but with no sheep on the front cover whatsoever. Married life has changed you, man…I feel like I don’t know you anymore. Sniff.

I keep up with the Kchronicles each week in Salon, and have for years. I rarely, if ever, miss a week, and if I do, I check back. So you can imagine my surprise, delight and arousal at the MANY comix in “Passion” that I hadn’t read before. Is this a function of editors deciding to pass on some of your racier pieces

Is this true, or do you just put in more strips than get run weekly? Either way, it makes the books more fun to read (except for having to re-live the run-up to the war…it all still seems surreal to me, probably because the missiles weren’t dropping here, and there seem to be few suicide bombings in San Jose) .

Your Honorable Discharge,
CDub

*I WAS SUPPOSED TO BE AT THE YOUTH SPEAKS POETRY SLAM FINALS, LAST NIGHT
but i’m sick, so i had to skip out on it and take it slow. the non-stop eventage of last week finally caught up to me…

*PRE-OSCAR PREDICTIONS
actually, i’m not going to predict anything (‘cept jamie foxx will win (deservedly), guaranteed)..i just wanted to put this down before the ceremony happened: WHY DIDN’T “ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND” GET THE PROPS THAT IT TRULY DESERVED?!!

i know, i know. it came out way too early in the year..but it’s been such a lame year for movies, you would’ve thunk it would’ve stuck out more. jim carrey should’ve been nominated for best actor just because there was no hint of an jim carrey-isms through-out the whole thing!! well..mebbe when he’s supposed to be acting like a little kid..

also..THE INCREDIBLES SHOULD’VE BEEN NOMINATED FOR “BEST PICTURE”. this film was straight-up, along with “sideways”, the most pleasurable movie-going experience of the year. look at the story, the individual sequences, the voice work, the humor, the music, the costumes, the credits….the fact that you care for the characters so much. who would’ve thunk that the overall theme of the movie (love, family) would overshadow everything else? SHAME ON YOU IF YOU HAVEN’T SEEN IT!! SHAME ON YOU!!

the saddest thing about it is disney has the rights to make an “incredibles 2”. WITHOUT BRAD BIRD. WITHOUT PIXAR. which means it’ll be something on par to like chris reeves’ “superman 3”..or the new star wars movies…i won’t be able to stand the disappointment.

and EFF “NEVERLAND”!! my wife said it ain’t no best pic nominee…

anyhoo…i’m on the mend and i hope to set up a signing in las vegas for sat. mar 19th. keep an eye out for it on the calendar.

cheers!!

*WONDERCON WRAP-UP!!
oooh-weee!! this year’s wondercon in san francisco has finally grown up!! i’m not sure why or how, but saturday was so busy i felt like i was in san diego!!

thanks to everybody who came by and picked up a copy of the new k chronicles collection, “the passion of the keef”. special thanks to everybody who dropped off special gifts (including a bottle of homemade mead, absinthe and some salt scrub!!)..also, a special hello to arthur, my smallest-biggest fan from olympia wa., who wouldn’t leave me alone til i admitted he was annoying me (long story)..

anyhoo…lots of good times had..including dinner with the wife, steve leialoha & trina robbins, and my official fan-boy bob gidley and his wife, laura. we ate at tu-lan, this great little divey vietnamese restaurant on 6th st.

the wackiest moment for me was going down the autograph aisle and seeing margot kidder!! you remember..lois lane from the chris reeve superman movies…she seems to be doing a lot better than the last time i read about her in the news…

*COMICS4COMIX WRAP-UP
friday night’s cartoon art museum fundraiser was a smashing success. it seemed a tad bit chaotic at first, but everything seemed to fall in line smoothly. it was great how diverse and uniquely funny each comedian was. and the silent auction went well, too (my piece sold!!). will durst & bridget schwartz, the two headliners, rocked!!

the two funniest moments for me were when i was pulling raffle ticket winners. here are the winners i pulled out in a row: my wife, my friend kovak, his friend, fanboy gidley, my friend rich, and his buddy. it was all black folks and people i knew!! talk about fixed!!

and then, towards the end of the night, during will durst’s set, me and another cartoon art museum board member looked at each other and asked “do you smell pot?”

i ran down the back hallway and just outside the back door, two guests were smokin’ dope, and the smoke was wafting into the museum!! hilarious stuff!!

after closer investigation of the illegal contraband, i told the guests they would have to take their party somewhere else (ten feet away)…

thanks to everyone who came out!!

R.I.P. Hunter S. Thompson….he was a huge influence…

*THE NEW BOOK IS HERE!!
the fourth k chronicles compendium, “the Passion of the Keef”, is back from the printer and lookin’ quite snazzy. pretty soon you’ll be able to order the book off the website or you can come on by my slideshow presentation at the San Francisco Art Institute on thursday, or my table at wondercon, this fri.-sun. please check the calendar section for times and addresses.

i’m looking to do an official book release party in san francisco on weds. march 30th at the elbo room. stay tuned for details…

*MORRIE TURNER TRIBUTE WRAP-UP
had a GREAT time at the charles schulz museum this weekend. i was there to pay tribute to morrie turner, creator of “wee pals”, for his 40 years of syndication. turner basically integrated the comic pages with his multi-cultural “wee pals” way back in the day. i got to hang with him, steve bentley (“herb and Jamaal”), robb armstrong (“jump start”), and award-winning college cartoonist nate creekmore (“maintaining”). there was a great crowd and if you haven’t been to the schulz museum in santa rosa, you should go. it’s amazing…

the funniest part of the day came during a panel that we did…by the end, i was known as “the cartoonist that smokes crack”….

you had to be there.

hope to see some of you at the Cartoon Art Museum’s Comics4Comix on Friday..i’ll be the drunk, chillin’ with will durst…

*EMAIL OF THE BEAK:

Hi Keith, I really enjoy your comic strip, especially

when you do “life’s little victories”! I was a bit

saddened when you mentioned chicken nuggets, I was

wondering if you know about how chickens suffer in

order for human consumption. Just to give you an

idea, I’ve provided a link to a photo from a Farm

Sanctuary website — I always assume that people just

don’t know where their meat comes from.

Thank you for your time and attention! — Kathleen

*PAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATS!!!

i know it’s becoming routine..but it hasn’t been this good (sportswise) for new england in a long, long time. the patriots are just amazing when it comes to the concept of “team”. nobody’s boasting..they just went in and did their job.

and tom brady is a piece of ass, isn’t he?
