*INK, SWEAT & TEARS…THE FINAL SHOWS…

PORTLAND (5/22)
rolled into portland, sunday afternoon and found liberty hall in a snap. it’s a great community space. they had a rock band practicing on the main stage whilst microcosm publishing, an underground publication distributor, works out of a small room downstairs. there’s also a kitchen serving healthy food down there…and when we went back upstairs, there was some sort of choral singing group practicing, and d&d type folks coming in to play a session.

just a lot of stuff going on.

after scoring some sushi and the obligatory visit to powell’s books, downtown, we shot back to the hall for the show. i believe this was our biggest crowd. and the projector didn’t screw up!! dave roche (“on subbing”) opened the show. big thanks to joe and shawn at microcosm for hookin’ us up.

then we hit a place called bink’s for a little bit o’ boozin’ and food…good stuff!!

shout outs to dave walker (badazz mofo!!) and ike the dog.

SAN JOSE (5/24)
it was so weird to sleep at home a day after the portland show and then have one more show to do. but we done did it. the last hurrah at anno domini was bittersweet…cuz the fellas and i were hyped to do another hundred shows..it was great.

the turnout was bigger than expected, especially for a tuesday. and the projector only screwed up once. mark silverman opened the show for us, again (he did s.f.). and he slayed..especially his five minute opus “my penis”.

shout outs to former marginal prophets/mdc guitarist chris and his pals for coming through!!

thank you, thank u, thank ewe to everyone who came out to the shows. it was the first tour i’ve ever booked myself and it went swimmingly. thanks to everyone who let us crash at their place. thanks to uncle ray for use of the amp and mic. thanks to all the venues who were open and willing to take us on. and thanks to jon longhi and eric drooker for giving up their valuable time…

coming up: i’m coming to new york city, june 11th & 12th!!

now..i gotta go see episode three…

cheers,

keef

*INK, SWEATS & TEARS TOUR UPDATE…
man, oh man!!
so much for the daily tour updates…it’s been too crazy…haven’t had a chance to sit and chill at a computer..but i am now..
SAN FRANCISCO (5/18)
the tour started off with a rainy night in san francisco at artists television access. a pretty decent crowd with my evil twin sis in the house. mark silverman was hilarious with twisted folk songs. the crowd seemed perplexed by him, but in the end, he slayed. jon longhi broke out his penis-pipe story, and the rest was history..

shout outs to chris lanier and faultlines in the house.

EUGENE (5/19)
we got a late start on the road (also got a parking ticket near my apt!!)..we rolled into eugene minutes before we had to start. diva is a city run gaLLery that has a great staff. we had a nice turnout but we wish coulda sold more books. the coolest thing was that mywebmeister, bobby g hooked us up with syndicated cartoonist jan eliot (“stone soup”). she let us crash at her house. it was really cool. but my slide projector was acting screwy!!

shout outs to jan eliot’s two dogs and senile cat.

OLYMPIA (5/20)
this was an amazing show. last word books is a great place and all of you should go by there if you swing through. the crowd was great. the intro by sky crosby was all deep and heavy duty. we coulda left right then and be satisfied. lots of books were sold. and the editor of olympia’s sitting duck newspaper, terry knight, took us out to dinner with the duck crew. (the duck runs “the k chronicles”) olympia is just a pleasant place to visit. kinda like berkeley. the slide projector screwed up, but not as much.

shout outs to the last word and sitting duck crews. plus francis the dog.

BELLINGHAM (5/21 noon)
are you kidding me?!! what looked like a mistake , turned out to be the biggest surprise show fo all so far. the village books show was great. they provided the projector so there was no screwing up. only one person was completely offended by the show. good stuff!!

shout outs to krissy the tech master and the canadians who got held up at the border for two hours (you should’ve never said you were going to see us!!)

SEATTLE (5/21 7:30)
man, oh man..three incredible shows in a row!! me and jon were selling for more than an hour afterward. ellen forney opened the show with a great presentation..and my evil twin sis made a poignant and touching intro (although she got my poo story wrong!!)..stephen notley was in the house…and a ton of good ol’ cartoon folk…we all went to the chapel bar after the show. the bar is in an old funeral home…

shout outs to all my sister’s co-workers and friends..

next up is portland, then finishing up with san jose on tuesday…

cheers!!

*EMAILs OF THE WEEK FROM DAN (A YANKEE), A MIKE C (A CANUCK). (concerning the minutemen strip)..

Keef:

Good for you, bro; border security by vigilant patriots like you helps keep us all safe and secure.

Do you know what measures are being taken to rid us of the likes of Alex Trebek, Michael J. Fox, Neil Young, and [gasp!] Celine Dion who have snuck over the border thru legal loopholes and have converted large segments of our population to promote them, among many others of their ilk [or is that ‘elk?’]? What is being done to rid our country of these scum, many of whom are Frenchified?

BTW, altho racial profiling is forbidden if you’re PC, it wouldn’t hurt to be aware of particularly pale skin tones, if you know what I mean [wink, wink]. I mean, that Trebek tanned look has GOT to be phony!

[End of response to latest].

All we want is your women!

But don’t think we are coming down South because…

No health care! All those hand guns! And, I won’t even talk about all those right-wing Republicans – what’s up with that nut job Anne Coulter anyway? War, war, war, war, etc., etc., – don’t get me wrong we Canucks love to fight, as long as it is legit (do a little research on our real war record – come on, have you seen us play hockey?). Those craaaazzzy hard-core Christians (creationism – you’ve got to be shittin’ me).

But really, we Love ya. Just, what happened over the last 5 years? It’s like you guys started following Jim Jones or something. Really, put down the Kool-Aid and back away from the rhetoric!

Anyway, enough of that.

The folks up here in the North hope y’all come to your senses rather soon. The US has lots of great ideas and is a great partner when not indulging in half-baked religious ideology.

So, come on up and chill awhile. We’ve got great beer, great skiing, and a fairly tolerant way of life that welcomes all. Sit down and have an intervention with Pres. Bush and all his religious brethren – all of us up here think he needs a little attitude adjustment. Not that he is wrong about all things – I for one would love to see a much stronger Canadian Armed Forces (however, most of my fellow citizens only deem that a necessity in time of real conflict).

Keep up the great work while you can. I hear that they will soon deport your kind to Gitmo.

Love

Mike C.

*JUST SPENT A FEW DAZE IN YOSEMITE..

..where it hailed two days in a row during our hikes!! one time we had to stop cuz it was coming down so hard that it hurt. we hid under some trees, and then the lightning came…

if you’re going to yosemite and don’t wanna camp, i recommend the yosemite bug hostel in midpines. it’s great. clean. cozy. they’ve got a great restaurant that brings in folks from all over..and they’ve got a cat and a dog running the place…

*GETTING A LOT OF RESPONSE…
