You had me until the last panel there. In fact, a lot of people who say that All Lives Matter would say that they wouldn’t do a reversal on their position after hearing the underlying reason. (For the record, I hadn’t heard that this is the actual issue.)
The big problem, of course, is that the slogan “Black Lives Matter” is being intepretted as “Only Black Lives Matter” (panel 2), and instead of giving the explanation in panel 3, the BLM people just repeat their slogan louder. That, more than the true explanation, is why some people react as in panel 4.
Maybe it’s better saying, “Black Lives Matter, too”? Though, I suspect that people who argue over syntax, are using it as an excuse for not expressing their own opinions. The same way a politician twists words to dodge making a commitment. Thanks for such a thought provoking comic, Keith.
