*MY OLD COLLEGE ROOMMATE WAS A ZAMBONI DRIVER IN “HIGH” SCHOOL, SO THE STORY BELOW DOESN’T SURPRISE ME…

Two employees of a city ice-skating rink in Boise, Idaho, have been fired for making a midnight fast-food run in a pair of Zambonis.

The ice-resurfacing machines, with a top speed of about 5 mph, were seen chugging through a Burger King drive-through recently.

The Zamboni operators, temporary city employees, had to drive through at least one intersection with a traffic light on their 1½-mile trip. A city spokesman said neither of the $75,000 Zambonis nor their $10,000 blades appeared damaged.

A gun-wielding cartoonist dressed in camouflage entered The Miami Herald’s building and demanded to speak with an editor Friday, prompting an evacuation of employees, police said.

No injuries were immediately reported. Miami police spokesman Delrish Moss said authorities believed the man was isolated on the sixth floor of the downtown Miami building that houses The Miami Herald and its Spanish-language publication El Nuevo Herald.

Officers carrying weapons and wearing protective gear set up a perimeter around the building, and about 60 people were gathered outside.

Moss said the man, dressed in camouflage, entered the front door with a gun and demanded to speak with an editor. El Nuevo Herald’s employees work mostly on the sixth floor.

“He’s a freelance cartoonist that says he’s been censored by the Herald,” Moss said of the gunman.
