*EMAIL OF THE WEEK, CONCERNING THIS WEEK’S HIGH SCHOOL REUNION STRIP:
Hey K,
As a former class president and resident radical, founder of the Voice of Our People (VOOP) Party, and all-around smart-ass I organized a 20th reunion like you suggested for my kinda big high school. We even scheduled it for Thanksgiving weekend. I asked the people I wanted to see to show up at a local bar with a big room that I had arranged for, and told them to tell the people they wanted to see to show up. If we got 150, the room was free. At 200 we stopped counting, but they didn’t stop coming in. Even the old assistant principal, Mr. Smolinski, showed up — I never found out who asked him. It was a total blast.
For the 25th some “girls” arranged for a formal dinner-dance for $100 a couple. My wife had no interest in going and I wasn’t going to dance with another guy’s wife or an unmarried classmate, so I begged off and let it be known that the same deal was on at the Hang-Up Bar for the night after the dinner-dance. A small group showed up this time, and said that the girls blamed me for the low turnout for the dinner-dance, where they lost money on the deal.
My 30th was last year, and I wasn’t invited apparently, if they did anything. After 30 years, though, I’m not much interested in anybody back there anyway, so it was no biggie. Love your strip!
