ALA/ANAHEIM WRAPUP
Had a great time at the American Library Association’s annual convention, this year taking place just down the road in Anaheim. Reconnected with a lot of folks, including Bay Area homeslice Adam Mansbach, librarian rock-star Amy Cheney, fellow autobio toonsters Amy Martin and Gabrielle Bell, and, unbeknownst to ye, fellow Angeleno Derek Kirk Kim.
Had a fun slideshow presentation on Sunday with Jason Shiga, whose tech issues resulted in him hilariously recounting his romantic adventures that led to his graphic novel Empire State. Great stuff.
I like librarians. They appreciate books. They appreciate comics. They’re smart. I hope to be doing some slideshows at a library near you!
An interview I did at the convention:
We’ll woo you to Portland yet, the Multnomah County Library system is AWESOME. Come play with us!
If you’d stop being so eloquent and kind in interviews maybe we’d all see you in more dailies (nice guys finish last, remember?).
