RETURN OF THE LOBSTA TRUCK!!
Ooh la la!! Time to get mah lobsta roll on Thursday afternoon in front of NPR on Jefferson in Culver City. The NPR building being a must have spot for L.A.’s best gourmet food trucks is reason enough for Congress to continue funding public radio.
Speaking of NPR, the always wonderful Carol Burnett was being interviewed about her new book , and callers inevitably brought up all the times her T.V. show cast mates would crack her up. I cannot imagine anyone not cracking a smile at the clips below. The main culprit is generally Tim Conway, but I always had a soft spot for Vicki Lawrence playin’ Mama.
Check out this outtake, where Tim Conway goes completely off script and makes up a coupla elephant stories:
The windmill line in this kills me:

For one of the greatest sketch comediennes of all time, CB cannot improv her way out of a wet paper bag. So the people she works with know that they can get moments like these because as soon as they depart the script she is flummoxed.
Of course, these clips are worth their weight in gold!
Pro-tip: find a DVD or online vid of the special she did in the late 80s or early 90s with Robin Williams.
OMG, they’re really ROFL!
Thanks! Had to get a tissue, laughing so hard at the elephant story that I had tears! *snorff!*. I needed that laugh!!
I remember watching the elephant skit when I was a kid! (Yes, I am very old) Thanks for bringing back this wonderful memory. They don’t make shows like this anymore.
Kahomono: Wait, Carol Burnett vs Robin Williams? Wouldn’t that reach Comedic Critical Mass and crack up the entire city?
