When I drive home to the outer Richmond and need to take Fulton, I usually cut into the park. I don’t know what it is about Fulton, but it’s a hotbed of bad pedestrians. And they don’t even try to cut it close, I’ve had them step out in front of me when I’m 20 feet away. That would not be a fun collision on a motorcycle.
I do miss LA and San Diego for one thing: defensive pedestrians.
Meanwhile, of course, in your “new” town (and my hometown) LA, folks will stand on the corner and wait patiently for the light to change before crossing even when there isn’t a car within 5 miles of the intersection. I think that even made Real People or something way back when.
When I visited Boston, I decided to rent a bike and tour the town. I lost track of how many people honked at me and/or tried to run me off the road. SF (and this was before they started building bike lanes) was like a ride in the park by comparison.
